A little update
It's been a while :)
Hey friend!
The last 3 months have been a whirlwind of exciting summer moments & big physical challenges.
Just as it becomes easy to fall off the weight loss wagon when life gets in the way, I’ve fallen off the writing one.
SO. We’re gonna change that! & I figured there’s no better way to get back into regular Substack posts, then by sharing with you what I’ve been doing over the last 3 months.
My NEW goal
At the beginning of July I settled on my next MASSIVE training goal…
Qualifying for the Boston Marathon
In order to achieve this, I will need to run a marathon in under 3 hours.
This breaks down to a 6:52 min/mile for 26.2 miles…
This will undoubtedly be the toughest physical challenge I’ve ever taken on. The time it will take & the body transformation I will undergo will be insane. But I’m ready & have no doubt in my ability to achieve it.
What my current training looks like
At the moment, my training consists of a LOT of running & lifting. Most days I do double sessions, with my runs in the morning and lifts later in the afternoon.
However…
I am still committed to completing Ironman 70.3 Muncie (Sept 30) & Ironman Florida (Nov 4). Which means I still am adding in 1-2 bikes and 1-2 swims per week.
While these past few months have been packed with training, I’m grateful because it’s given me clarity on how I want to train going forward.
After IM Muncie and IM Florida, I will be taking a step back from triathlon. I’ve found a huge passion in running & love how it balances with lifting.
I’m forever grateful for my time in triathlon, but at this stage of life, it doesn’t fit with my goals.
If you’ve followed me for any period of time, you know how much I value keeping my training “fun”. Recently, triathlon training hasn’t been fun…which is all the reason I need to move on.
I fully believe I’ll be back to triathlon at some point…but after November 4th my focus will be on running & lifting.
Everything OTHER than training…
Back in August, I made the commitment to stay in Indianapolis for another year. It’s crazy to think I’ve already been an Indy resident for 1 year…
But what’s crazier, is how much Indy feels like home.
I’m not one to try and predict my future…but for the time being…Indy is where I’m staying.
& for those wondering…my furry friend is thriving :)
We’re spending a lot of time hiking, playing, and eating Starbucks pup cups.
What’s next?
As I wrap up this life update, I want to give you a tease of what I had in mind for my Substack going forward…
My goal is to make this a 1 stop shop for all things education and inspiration.
I want to share my experiences and knowledge in the fitness/nutrition space in a way that’s intriguing and digestible.
This will look like 1 longer post per week covering…
Stories
Lessons
Research breakdowns
& MORE
I’m excited to get back into writing more consistently & bring you awesome people more value.
See ya next week ✌🏻
-Mike
